“First of all, thank you for your questions. The Kingdom of Spain believes that a fair TTIP agreement can and will be proven beneficial for our economy and the EU’s economy. However, we are not willing to sacrifice our citizens’ interests for the sake of the possible economic benefits.
Secondly, since the backbone of our economy are small and medium enterprises, we want to promote their development and provide them with all the necessary information, in order for them to benefit from the TTIP agreement. Our goal is a united and prosperous European Union.”
Likewise, we asked the Minister of Economics of the Kingdom of Sweden, Irene Sourpi, for a more personal insight on the impact of the TTIP on society and on how Sweden plans to maintain social stability after (and if) the TTIP comes into effect:
“Secure people are not afraid of change, and that’s why we are the most innovative and progressive society in the world: we have safeguarded our citizens’ rights via a sturdy legal framework and constant initiatives, beneficial for the nation. We always supported the global boost for “start – up” projects, state – sponsored information seminars for the greater public and in general, every innovation allowing for augmented interaction of the public with the state and a great influx of feedback. No decision should be made without respect towards the public opinion. We have a number of concerns over TTIP and we will not accept any claim that would be totally opposed to our policy. All our actions are planned with financial stability, environmental sustainability and social welfare in mind. And what we stand for, is ultimately what makes us who we are.”
