Day 2 – ITRE: This is a woman’s world

The simulation starts with the introduction of the Members of the European parliament, in which the participants in order to break the ice talk about themselves and express some fun facts about them. The board of ITRE is one of the most informed and cognisant of the procedure, the President of the board Ms. Tilemachou and the Vice President Ms. Papanikolaou show that this committee is more composed than ever. In the tour de table the MEPs have one minute to state their political line and express their country’s view about the topic which is: Realising European Artificial Intelligence Leadership and its economic and societal potetial. Of course we heard plenty of ideas about Artificial Intelligence impacts on our life and how deeply involved is Artificial Intelligence in the job enviroment. So here it comes a strange message; an anonymous video: we have cyber attack in European Union’s computers systems, this has a huge impact on our committee, the Board and the MEPs from now on cannot use their computers and their phones for 15 minutes. The first unmoderated caucus proposed by Ms. Marinaki from EPP party is about the potentials of Artificial Inteligence and which areas can be developped, with motion from Mr. Kitis from the S&D party. This topic continues to be on the agenta for a second unmoderated caucus. After Mr. Oikonomakos from the ALDE party mentioned that we need to overcome people’s fear about the Artificial Intelligence and this can be solved with briefings and updates from the experts of Artificial Intelligence. In the third and last unmoderated caucus, proposed by Ms. Bigiali from the EPP party, the MEPs talked about cybersecurity threats and how they can be solved, they were creative and very innovative in this topic, Mr. Magnisalis from EPP said “our base is people one by one”.
