Day 2 – ITRE: Motivation for Innovation

The third session starts, and the placards are high, Ms. Papadaki from S&D proposes a motion for an moderated caucus with the topic of economic potentials of Artificial Intelligence. In this topic the MEPs try to express solutions that are more practical and talk about developments in all the job fields. A viral video was updated on the internet and the news are terrible. The President of the European parliament has been abducted and we do not know the origin. The main pilot of the topic is how humans can be replaced by robots in the job market and the ways also that a robot can be compared in mental manner with a human. Subsequently MEPs talked about the establishment of a data basis which respects the European values and protect the human rights.

Another motion for a moderated caucus has been recognized by the board. Mr Kechagias from ECR party raises a motion with topic Artificial intelligence and Academic Research, as well as the education system. We heard significant and important proposals – most impressive was the proposal to make available the education to all the students with disabilities with virtual classrooms – which was mention by Ms. Marinaki from EPP. Another important proposal was to connect the education system with investments in order to be more strong; undeniably there is a huge gap between academia and industry, and we must all take example from France, as Mr. Ioannidis from EPP said. European Union supports integrate technology and Artificial Intelligence should be in the school curriculum.

During the time of an unmoderated caucus we informed that in the Tesla manufactory (electric cars with high artificial intelligence capabilities) has occured a cyber attack. In the center of Brussels, panic has been caused, cars starts to move uncontrollably, drifting pedestrians, killing people, crawling up cars in front of them. After this terrifying accident the committee held a moderated caucus in order to talk about the Crisis. Parties such as ALDE,EPP and ECR expressed that we should not lose faith in the Artificial Intelligence and the advantages that Virtual World could have.

Afterwards the MEPs raised an unmoderated caucus in order to collaborate and design a draft with specific prepositions on the topics that they have been discussed in the moderated caucuses. The MEPs were divided into three groups, first group projects propositions about education, second group about societal challenges and third group designs a draft about economical potentials. It is necessary to be written some of the prepositions that drafts have. About Education Draft one preposition is to embrace tailored made learning experiences customized by AI system, helping people with disabilities participating in virtual classroom. About Society Challenges draft the first preposition is to underline the need of precise and strict application of GDPR registration and principles due to the several consequences. Last but not least the Economical Draft is a well written draft which provides the collaboration of all the Parties, the main proposal is to: Further promote the use of existent platforms such as the “AI on demand” platform, that provides data, algorithm and computing power knowledge access to businesses and individuals. It is extremely important and encouraging that all the Members of the European Parliament work together with respect and they cooperate in order to make the best they can.
