The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) is a committee of the European Parliament, whose main responsibilities include industrial matters, such as technology-intensive manufacturing, information technology, and telecommunication. More specifically IRTE aims to boost the competitiveness in the manufacturing sector while exploring at the same moment the possibilities of a Digital Union.
The European Union is indeed oriented towards one more environmental- friendly economy. However, this new European financial model that focuses more on sustainability, energy efficiency and innovation is a challenge for the EU and its Member States. Therefore, it is of huge importance firstly to understand the upcoming difficulties and secondly to come up with possible solutions.
Consequently, the green growth policy combined with the circular economy are the top priorities of the ITRE Committee, that may be achieved through the cooperation of the Member States and the suitable feedback.
