Managing the world’s strongest trade sector

It is no secret that the European Union is the biggest collective economic powerhouse in the world right now and will be for years to come. And with countries like Greece and the United Kingdom with their enormous trading fleets, and major trading ports like Rotterdam in Holland and Hamburg in Germany, it is only logical that international and intercontinental trade play a key role in Europe’s economic dominance. INTA Committee’s job is managing that very important sector of the Union’s economy.

Perhaps, the EU’s biggest achievement so far is the creation of a single market that allows free trade in all EU members. Now, the EUropa.S. 2018 has come and with this year’s hot topic being the digital market, once again, lots of eyes are looking at the INTA Committee. Specifically, the committee is going to examine ways to encourage free movement of goods across the Union in the Online Trading Era, and how to remove the remaining barriers that do not allow free trade. Such a barrier is the Geo-blocking phenomenon, meaning the discrimination of someone online because of his nationality or the place of his establishment. Also, there will be debating about Copyright issues, as well as Parcel Delivery and Consumer Protection.

Let’s not forget that the free and open exchange of goods is not only the most important aspect of the European Union, but also its origin, as it was first founded to reconnect a war-torn Europe through trade and business. INTA’s goal is to make one more step towards free and unrestricted trade!
