Interview with Mr. Alexandros Tsoraklidis

Alexandros Tsoraklidis is a former assistant of IRTEA, multiple times participant in EUropa.S and of course member of the Secretariat. So we asked him the following questions:
– How back is it dated your first EUropa.S. participation and how many conferences have you attended so far?

– My first time was in 2014 – I have to check my records – but for sure I have attended the EUropa.S. conference three times so far. As a matter of fact, my last time was as a member of the Organizational Committee. When I came back from Harvard I didn’t have the time to participate in any new one. I have participated in almost all the committees and groups.
-What was your motivation that ledd you to participate in all these simulations of EUropa.S?
– Putting into practice all the knowledge acquired from my studies was my first thought. But the most remarkable of all is that, even each conference has it’s ups and downs, EUropa.S. has its own way to eliminate stress and anxiety. It’s definitely one of the best simulation conferences I have attended until now!
-Are you thinking of participating again in EUropa.S. in the near future?
– That’s for sure! I want with all my heart to be part and to go on as well.
-Which is the most important part that makes EUropa.S. unique?
-It’s not just a conference in order to compete each other. EUropa.S. is family! You meet new people, you have an edifying “healthy” dialogue each other and you’re not afraid to raise your voice even if you’re against the ones have already being posed. Concerning the conference itself, it is fully respected by the EU and it is promoted by all its means. Apart from this, it is a conference that counts for the EU and having attended EUropa.S highlights your CV, as well as builds your CPD.
Last but not least he highlighted the role of the Staff members, he said that EUropa.S can not be succesful without these guys. It is the best “committee” if it your first time in EUropa.S and you do not feel so confident to be a Head of State or a MEP. At the end we asked him to tell us a phrase that would encourage students to participate in the upcoming conferences. So our interview ended with his following statement:
” Being part of EUropa.S. means to be part of what you want to create”
