Day 3 – AFET: Will the MEPs reach consensus?

The procedures today started with the unanimity of the MEPs, who all agreed both to the fact that a lot of topics are still to be discussed, such as energy, the climate change and the EU’s trade policy towards the USA, but also that a lot of changes must be made to yesterday’s working paper. Therefore, two unmoderated caucuses followed in order to achieve the previous goals.

Afterwards, the Members of the European Parliament elaborated more on the topic of the energy supply and the fact that the EU is dependent of Russia, as it is the union’s biggest supplier. The majority of the MEPs consorted with the idea that EU should become independent from Russia and that it should cooperate with the US.
