Today, March 31, the GUE had its first meeting to elect the president of the party. After the President made an introduction for the following procedure, the two candidates delivered their speech: Koukouzeli Iro and Oikonomopoulos Konstantinos.
Koukouzeli Iro was the candidate, who finally won the presidency of GUE with 7 votes in favor. As far as her statements are concerned, Miss Koukouzeli emphasized the demand of enforcement of the human rights. She also talked about the green growth economy which must be formed aiming at protecting the environment of the content but mainly the European lives. On this topic, Turkey must be more pressured if the country would like to continue the communication with EU. Moreover, Miss Koukouzeli pointed out the high protection in Cyprus security that must be implemented by EU regards with relations with Turkey.
Finally, she made a comment about her position that European Union is being stronger and stronger all the time with the result of being the strongest union, on her view.
