The elections of the president of the ALDE party took place this morning. The female presence played a catalytic role. Both candidates Miss Babali and Miss Drougka were very well prepared and made significant points in their presentations. The speech of Miss Drougka started with a historic reference to the establishing of the committees in the EU Permanent and its importance. Then she proceeded with her suggestions regarding the Agenda of the Institutions
Miss Drougka made many insightful proposals in her speech. More analytically, stated that the digital economy plays a predominant role nowadays, that is why, it is of huge importance to establish free trade and a functional single market. Moreover, about the foreign relations among Turkey and Greece there has been doubtless a progress the last years. Nevertheless, there must be an improvement of Turkey state’s policy towards minorities and the government should also respect the freedom of media and speech. She also added that terrorist attacks are an emerging issue that needs to be dealt with.
and to achieve that, it would be significant to establish a group in the European Parliament against the terrorist attacks.
Finally, Miss Drougka also showed her interest towards environmental issues as they shouldn’t be viewed as a secondary issue anymore. With her exceptional speech she managed to gain the support of the majority of the members of ALDE party and be elected with 9 votes as president.
